Amy Wellington
Amy Wellington is the Co-founder of M.E.D.U. Detroit specializes in public art, and community projects. She is a Michigan ArtShare – MSU Extension, consultant; Program Director, and Exhibit Curator. She served on the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Jackson County Board (ACAJC) (Vice Chair & amp; Public Art). She Chaired the Jackson 2020 Strategic Planning “Arts, Culture and Recreation strand” and coordinated MCACA’s Mini-grant Program, Region 16 for 3 years. Amy was also the Director of Education at the Ella Sharp Museum for 23+ years and directed diverse programs,
and community events. She ultimately served as Assistant Executive Director and Interim Executive Director.
Amy is a mixed-media paper artist and earned a BFA from Alma College. Amy’s art utilizes a variety of two-dimensional mixed media techniques featuring handmade paper, collage/assemblage, printmaking, drawing media, and acrylic painting. She creates Divine Feminine style portraits and narrative works reflecting archetypal themes. She created in a series of works called “Gifts from the Shadow” and a series of fanciful paper dolls called “Kindred Spirits.” Her work is exhibited across lower Michigan and on social media.
